For this list we decided to meshed Pro Basketball and College Basketball. There are only men on this list, though with the emergence of names like Lindsay Gottlieb and Lauren Battista, we don’t think these women are too far behind.

You cannot begin this list without noting Red Auerbach. Arguably the greatest NBA coach of all-time. Auerbach coached the Boston Celtics from 1950-1966. We was a 9x NBA Champion, the 1965 NBA Coach of the year, and 11x NBA All-Star Head Coach. Behind Auerbach is Red Holzman. Holzman won NBA titles in 1970 and 1973 with the New York Knicks. Number 613 is retired by the Knicks in his honor.

Larry Brown found success in the NCAA and NBA. In 1988 he led Kansas to a title and in 2004 he coaches the Pistons to a championship. He was the 2001 NBA Coach of the Year not to mention he was a 3x ABA Coach of the Year. He was a Gold Medal Coach in the 2000 Sydney and Bronze Medal in 2004 Athens.

We rounded out the list with Bruce Pearl who recently (2019) took Auburn to the Final Four. He has found success everywhere he has gone as a players coach. He is a 2x SEC Coach of the Year and 3x Horizon League Coach of the Year. In 2006 he was Sporting News Coach of the Year.

Honorable Mentions: David Blatt (Cavs & Maccabi), Lawrence Frank (Nets & Pistons), Seth Greenberg (Virginia), and Brad Greenberg (Radford & Israel).
